4 best DIY masks for acne-prone skin

We all know how painful acne can be and how stressed and depressed it would make us feel... Well, we do not always have to buy expensive cosmetic products that may or may not help. Sometimes it's waaay easier to just try some DIY masks. It's cheaper and faster.

I love taking care of my skin and I always do home made masks and stay with them while doing some chores. In today's post I want to share 4 DIY masks that have worked for me and hopefully will work out for you as well....

#1 Egg white

Yes, that's right! This mask will make wonders to your skin - and you need just one ingredient - egg white. The egg white is very rich in protein - it contains 3,6 grams. In addition, it contains vitamins and minerals that will make your skin feel smooth. What you have to do is just grab an egg, separate the yolk from the white and beat the white. Apply it on clean skin and leave for 15-20 minutes. You will feel that it is getting harder and it may be hard to smile. And, voila...that's it... super easy one ingredient DIY mask. You can also apply moisturizer afterwards.

What are the benefits?

- It's great for deep cleaning

- It tightens pores

- It helps to get rid from scars

#2 Honey, cinnamon and lemon

This mask will make your face the softest EVER! What you need is to combine 2 tbsp of honey, 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 wedge of fresh lemon. Combine the ingredients in a cup and mix them well. Avoid the eye area and apply the mask on a clean face. Leave it for 20 minutes. Honey has been used for centuries for medical treatment. It has so many properties that it can be applied to every skin type with different skin problems. Cinnamon has antimicrobial properties and it makes the skin look smoother. Lemons are rich in vitamin C and they help brighten and lighten your skin.

What are the benefits?

- It fights irritation and infections of the pimples

- It moisturizes the face

- It kills bacteria

#3 Baking soda and water

This mask is very good for fighting pimples. Some people like to apply it to the whole face, while others just on a few pimples. You can do whatever you think would work best for you! Just mix 2 tbsp of baking soda with water until a paste forms. Massage it onto your face and leave for 15 minutes. You may feel a little itching but don't worry - that's because of the anti-inflammatory properties of the baking soda. Apply a moisturizer after the mask as the baking soda may dry your skin a little bit.

What are the benefits?

- It reduces acne scars

- It removes dead skin

- It removes breakouts

#4 Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is the most famous natural ingredient to help with acne. It is extracted from the leaves of an Australian tree known as Melaleuca alternifolia. It is really good for oily skin. What you have to do is apply a few drops of the oil directly onto the face and massage it gently until the skin absorbs the oil. You can leave it overnight. And it is not expensive - you can buy pure tea tree oil for €9 (in Holland&Barrett for example).
